End of Life Vehicles

  1. End of Life Regulations

    As of January 2007*, Mazda will 'take back' any Mazda vehicle - irrespective of the date of first registration - free of charge.

    *The End of Life Vehicles Directive (2000/53/EC) requires manufacturers to meet as of 2007 all or a significant part of the cost of processing End of Life vehicles with nil or negative market value for all vehicles of their brand(s). Manufacturers and their contracted partners must also meet stringent recycling targets - 85% by weight of a vehicle as of 2006 and 95% by 2015.

  2. Conditions for Free Take back

    • Valid for all passenger vehicles with up to nine seats and up to a permissible total weight of 3.5 tonnes.
    • Vehicles must be delivered to a manufacturer's appointed free take back facility.
    • Vehicle must be complete, containing the essential components including engine, transmission, coachwork, wheels and catalyst (where fitted).
    • Vehicle must be free from additional waste (such examples include garden/household waste, additional tyres etc).

    Working in partnership with independent operators, Mazda offers professional take back services to customers of Mazda.

    To find your nearest Mazda appointed End of Life Vehicle take back station contact Mazda Motor Ireland or ask your local Mazda Dealer for advice on the safe and proper disposal of ELVs.
